Ooh. So we’ve got more news on the One Direction album.
After the lads dropped their unexpected single Drag Me Down last week, Danny Jones has revealed that McBusted have written a track for their pals’ new record.
‘We’ve done stuff with [Niall Horan] before and he really liked it. We did submit a song for the new One Direction album, fingers crossed they like it,’ Danny told We Love Pop.
It sounds like 1D and their former bandmate Zayn Malik may soon be battling it out in the charts. The Bradford bad boy revealed last week that he’d packed up his boyband boots for good and was ready to become the Robbie Williams of the 21st century.
Zayn, 22, first teased fans about his big news on Wednesday morning, Tweeting: ‘These streets will make you feel brand new.’
This obviously got his followers a teeny bit confused, but a few hours later everything was cleared up.
When Zayn quit 1D, he said it was because he ‘wanted to be a normal 22-year-old’. But it seems there WAS another reason for his shock departure.
He wrote on the site that night: ‘I guess I never explained why I left , it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who i really am! #realmusic #RCA !!’ before posting a snap of himself signing a contract with RCA Records.
Alicia Keys, Mark Ronson, Justin Timberlake and A$AP Rocky are among the other acts signed to the label, which is part of Sony Music.
He finished up by Tweeting the hashtag #REALME. Oosh. As expected, this led to mixed reactions from Directioners.

Unhappy comments included: ‘SHEESH SORRY FOR MAKING U SPEND 4 YEARS OF UR LIFE MAKING FAKE MUSIC,’ and: ‘wasn’t for 1D xfactor & “fake music” no one would know who @zaynmalik is.’ Eek!
But the majority of people seemed pleased for him, with one summing up the general reaction with: ‘You look so happy! That is all that matters here.’
Zayn’s former mentor Simon Cowell also sent his congratulations on Twitter.
‘We have been working on this for a while and I am pleased to say congratulations to @Zaynmalik on signing with @RCARecords,’ wrote the 55-year-old.
‘I believe they are the perfect label for @ZaynMalik’s solo career and I am sure whatever they release together will be special.’
We can’t wait to hear your music, Zayn.
