Not content with ruling the music scene, Kanye West has set his sights on the fashion world, too, and his dreams are coming true.
Yep, the rapper turned fashion designer has been making waves when it comes to style for a while now thanks to his fashion collaboration with spotswear giant, Adidas, and now his footwear offerings that have earned him the ultimate fashion stripe.
Kanye has only gone and scooped the award for Shoe Of The Year at Footwear News’ 2015 Achievement Awards for the Yeezy Boost sneaker. Nice one!
Dubbed the ‘Shoe Oscars’ and recognising the best and brightest talents in the business, the awards are a pretty big deal when it comes to shoes, with the likes of Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik picking up accolades in the past.
Kanye will be honored with his award on 2nd Dec at the glamourous bash which is sure to be a who’s who of fashionable footwear royalty.
Footwear News said ‘This year’s Shoe Of the Year honor recognizes the insatiable demand for all things Yeezy. The sneaker releases dominated the market in 2015 as demand for the product crashed servers, sparked extraordinary resale value and created a need for mob control in stores.”. Yikes!
From the moment Kanye rocked the 750 high tops on the Grammys, his Adidas sneaker collabs have been the most coveted kicks on the scene, with the Yeezy Boost 350 style being a particular favourite amongst fans.
Yeezy mania reached a whole new level of cray back in July….
Aside from proclaiming that he is the ‘greatest living rock star on the planet’ during his set at Glastonbury, he has also become the subject of a viral video which compares his talents to that of Freddie Mercury. The clip gained over 135,000 shares in less than 24 hours. And we can totally see why…

Kanye West also launched his brand new sneakers, which sold out in less than 15 minutes after going on sale.
This was to be expected, after the Daily Mirror reported that excited fashion fanatics were ALREADY queueing outside shops in Newcastle to get their hands on a coveted pair, 48 hours before they hit the shelves. We mean, wow.
Don’t think for a second that the lack of stock calmed down the hype surrounding these kicks. Oh no. That would be too easy, right?
Kanye’s Yeezy Boost 350 trainers then started selling for upwards of $10,000 dollars on eBay. Considering they were originally priced at $200, this is a pretty dramatic leap.
The rapper may have his famous wife to thank for this bidding craze, as the ones going for the highest prices were the smaller sizes that would fit a woman’s foot.
When we kept seeing the Kardashian-Jenners sharing snaps of their cool new black-and-white trainers on Instagram, we didn’t think much of it.
But then we put two and two together, and realised that they’re actually all the proud owners of some of the most exclusive new trainers in the world. Yep.
On top of all that, the Adidas Confirmed Mobile App crashed due to Kanye Yeezy 350 fans desperately trying to reserve a pair. Clearly, the man’s doing well. And only 10-12 stores in the UK re-stocked them.
Kim first put them on our radar, dubbing the soon-to-be-released trainers the ‘most comfy shoes in the world’ as she gave her pregnancy feet a well deserved break from sky-high heels.
Sharing a photo on Instagram, the pregnant star wrote: ‘So happy I ran back inside to grab these! Lifesaver on these long flights! Most comfy shoes in the world! Yeezy Boosts 350.’
Kylie came quickly after with a cheeky snap of her Yeezy Boost 350s going through airport security, captioned: ‘Necessities’, with Kendall also following suit with her own proud shoe snap.
Brooklyn Beckham and dad David were both huge pioneers of the comfy grey velco-strap Yeezy 750s, with Brooklyn being gifted a pair by Kanye on his 16th birthday.
