When we heard that London Fashion Week ‘It’ design duo Marques’ Almeida were collaborating with high street giant Topshop, we couldn’t wait to see what super-wearable dreamy denim pieces they were going to create. Lucky for all of us it’s by far one of Topshop best (and biggest) collaborations yet!
The 68-piece collection lands in store and online at Topshop and Net-A-Porter today, and is everything we’d hoped for from the designers who are known for their denim creations. Oversized indigo shapes and logo emblazoned pieces with signature frayed hems make up the core of the collection while simple pieces like the colourful ribbed knits and cool 90s basics (think triangle bras and soft cotton shorts to monochromatic cashmere jersey) add a base layer to the range. Fill your shopping bag full, ‘cause these will be your timeless staples.
Statement items come in the form of wonderfully shiny suit separates in silvery lilac and lime green. (We adore the street pants in silk taffeta – a daring piece for anyone with fearless style.) Plus there are some incredible coloured faux fur collars, cuffs, key chains and cross body bags in popping pinks and the same shade of lime, which we predict will sell out on a matter of hours.
Tailored suits in soft lamb leather along with square toed sandals, mules and knee boots in a matte leather finish complete the collection in style with hits of colour on the soles (how cool?). And the price points? From super affordable £15 for simple staples, up to £250 for some of the statement leather.
Designers Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida said, “This collaboration with TOPSHOP was one of the most fun things we’ve worked on. We’ve always focused our research around teenagers and what we call the “ youth code” of dressing since we started the brand, working on this collection meant we could go back and dig deep into those archives, finding old editions of i-D and The Face, Corinne Day and Kate Moss shoots. Sofia (Marta’s sister) and our friends played a big part in forming this collection, as it was all about what we really want to wear! We can’t wait to see the end result in stores and online!”
