We all know Kylie Jenner loves to change up her hair. But did you know the real reason why she switches up her look so much?
The 17-year-old has dabbled with everything from blue and green to dirty blonde hues, and amazingly, she seems to suit every shade under the sun.
But now, the star has taken to her website to explain that it’s not just for fashion purposes, but actually, her ‘addiction’ to changing her hair helps with her low self-esteem.
‘I first dyed my hair when I was 16’, she said. ‘I dyed it blue and I never even asked my mom. After that, I’ve just had this addiction to changing my hair.
‘It makes me feel like a new person. I love feeling different and I love leaving the house knowing that nobody has ever seen me this way.’
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star also admitted that she finds it difficult to repeat a hair look she’s had before, as she feels like she’s ‘going back in time’.
‘It’s hard for me to go back to different styles I’ve worn before; I don’t always like my normal short, black hair’, Kylie said. ‘That look makes me feel like I’m going back in time. It’s like I’m going back to that moment a year ago and I just don’t want to be in that space.’
But there’s also a more practical reason why the reality TV star wears wigs so much – to protect her locks underneath.
‘Because I change my hair so much, it’s become damaged’, she wrote. ‘I’ve had to find ways to really try and take care of it and give it a rest. I discovered this amazing wig guy, Tokyo, and together we create wigs. Wigs are just SO much easier because I change my mind so much and this way I’m not damaging my hair.’

Jenner ends with a statement that encourages other people to try makeovers to boost their confidence.
‘Constantly changing up my style makes me feel creative and it helps me with my confidence’, she wrote. ‘If any of you are going through something in your life and you want a change, experiment with your hair — it’s so much fun and you’ll feel totally liberated.’
She added: ‘It just makes me feel so good about myself. Always own your own style and your own judgement and people will support you.’
