WAH London X ASOS is finally here, and you're going to want it all. Deputy Fashion News Editor Hannah Banks-Walker explains why...
WAH London X ASOS is one of those collaborations that is so cool, it almost flies under the radar. Those who need to know, know. And it tends to sell-out in a jiffy. Clearly, as the sort of person who uses the word ‘jiffy’ I could do with a slice of cool, at least in my wardrobe. Praise the heavens, then, that the brains behind WAH London brought her magic to ASOS.
Sharmadean Reid founded her nail empire back in 2009, setting up shop (quite literally) in Dalston. Since then, WAH Nails has worked with Marc Jacobs, Diesel, Nike and Topshop to name a few, securing a loyal following of seriously fierce women.
Now, Reid has designed her first ever ready-to-wear and accessories collection for my own personal haven- ASOS. It’s a great fit: classic, well-made pieces with a quirky twist. There’s something fearless about the strong 90s vibes; all fuchsia cocktail dresses, androgynous tailoring and pearl-strap loafers. In fact, Reid cites Princess Diana as her main inspiration for the range, which is in fact called ‘Princess Di Was Really Fly’ and is described as ‘downtown realness authentically mixed with uptown glam.’ Count me in.
There are slogan, cashmere-mix jumpers, pinstripe suits, pearl chokers, cricket knit co-ords and velvet mini dresses (with pearl straps, natch). There are jeans adorned with little red bows and blue-and-white striped Oxford shirts. There are at least seven things in my basket already, which is bad news for my bank balance but really great news for my wardrobe.
The first batch of WAH London X ASOS wonder buys has already launched on site and another will land on Monday 24th October, promising even more treats.
Get them before the cool kids beat you to it.
