Chrissy Teigen might have been the first one to officially flaunt her stretch marks in public, but today, females everywhere are celebrating their tiger lines on Twitter.
In case you’d wondered why #thighreading is trending, it’s because a whole host of sassy women have decided to give their thighs the airing they deserve in a new movement celebrating women’s bodies.
We’re so used to trying to hide our imperfections, but today it’s time to flaunt those ‘flaws’ and join the sisterhood. And it’s all thanks to actor and student @princess_labia, who kicked off #thighreading by tweeting a picture of her stretch marks with the caption ‘palm readings
‘I was sitting on my couch (I lounge around naked a lot) looking at my thighs and feeling the grooves of my stretch marks, and the thought that they looked like lifelines, like a palm reading, just came to me,’ the student told Elite Daily.
‘Something that is as normal, common, and beautiful as stretch marks is something we’ve been taught to be ashamed of, to be alone with.’
It’s not the first stretchies celebration we’ve seen on social media, either. A few months back, the #LoveYourLines campaign started trending on Instagram, which saw women from all over the globe sharing their own stretchies selfie via the official @LoveYourLines Instagram account.
With the hope of changing the discussion around body image and encouraging us females to love our bodies in their entirity, it was a strong and empowering movement that we were totally loving over here at LOOK HQ.
“#LoveYourLines is a social media photo campaign to help showcase the beauty of the female body,’ the anonymous project founders said in a statement.
