The Met Gala Has Another High Street Takeover

After last year’s Topshop takeover, the Met Gala has fast become a magnet for high street gowns rather than being simply a sea of designer frocks. From Sarah Jessica Parker to Emily Ratajkowski, fashion’s biggest night of the year was bursting with the world’s most fashionable women plumping to wear creations from our favourite (affordable!) stores.

2014 saw a Topshop-clad model crew turn up with Kendall Jenner, Jourdan Dunn, Chanel Iman and Toni Garn all wearing the British brand. This year, Toppers teased us on Instagram about who they may be dressing on Monday night and they did not disappoint.

Kendall’s pals and fellow modelling sensations, Hailey Baldwin and Bella Hadid rocked up in bespoke Topshop creations. With Hailey debuting her new darker locks, she was sure to make a statement offsetting her pale-blue mini. Bella opted for a tight black midi with applique detail that seriously reminded us of THAT Sex & The City dress.

Other models who also looked sensational in their Topshop gowns were Lily Donaldson, Natasha Poly and Emily Ratajkowski. While Ms Ratajkowski opted for a modest pencil dress, Lily and Natasha were gorgeous in long gowns that we want our hands on now!

The most exciting part of it all? You can buy the Met Gala-inspired dresses too! Hitting stores today, Topshop have created a limited red carpet collection inspired by the dresses worn by Emily, Bella, Hailey and Josephine de la Baume and believe us, they are amazing! It wasn’t just Topshop that took over the Met Gala though. H&M made a serious mark on 2015’s ball too, dressing one of fashion’s finest, Sarah Jessica Parker.

Collaborating on the design of the custom-made gown, SJP’s epic ensemble featured a patchwork made of conscious materials. The design also tapped into the hottest trend that came out of last night’s event – poppies! And of course, she topped it all off with a seriously fashion-forward, statement-making piece of headwear.

Also slipping into H&M last night were Vanessa Hudgens, Janelle Monae and singer, Banks.
