Met Gala 2013: From Punk to Pretty Princess

Met Gala 2013 Sarah Jessica Parker and Sienna Miller

The Met Gala 2013 in New York had a punk theme last night but surprisingly, not many guests stuck to the brief. There were far too many standard red carpet frocks for our liking (OK OK, so they were gorgeous frocks, but still...)

Of the celebrities who did stick to the punk dress code, Sarah Jessica Parker was our favourite. The actress wore a mohican-shaped feathered headdress by Philip Treacy with her Giles Deacon gown and knee-high tartan boots. You can't get more punk than that! Jennifer Lawrence was even spotted stopping on the red carpet to touch the Philip Treacy headdress. Speaking of J-Law, she chose not to adhere to the punk brief. The Silver Linings Notebook star played it safe with a classic look in a black Dior frock and veil.

Sienna Miller was firmly in the 'punk gang', flying the Brit flag in Burberry, with studs on her jacket, in her hair and in her ears. That's a whole lotta punk. Gwyneth Paltrow shunned the dress code, wearing a pink Valentino gown with mesh cut-out at the neck. She said that going "totally classic on a punk night" was the most rebellious thing you could do, a sentiment that Marc Jacobs agreed with, saying that wearing a tux to a punk themed party is totally subversive.

Met Gala 2013 Best-Dressed: Gwyneth Paltrow

"I'm just glad to see gwynnie showing off that body in something other than a monochrome palette. Ok, so it's not quite that sheer Iron Man 3 dress that's had us all talking recently, but it's definitely caught my attention for all the right reasons." – Hannah Gale, Online Fashion And Beauty Assistant

Met Gala 2013: Cara Delevingne Rocks The Red Carpet

Cara Delevingne in Burberry and Rita Ora in Thakoon, Met Gala 2013

The Met Gala 2013 was as glamorous as we expected and the attending A-listers like Cara Delevingne didn't disappoint. The event, which takes place each year in New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, marks the opening of the PUNK: Chaos to Couture exhibition, so there was plenty of rocked-up attitude from the guests.

How amazing did Cara Delevingne look in her Burberry frock? The model chanelled the punk vibe with studs, a plunging neckline and some seriously smokey eyes. We like.

It won't surprise you to learn that Cara turned the event into a bit of a girls' night out. Her 'wifey' Rita Ora was there (looking hot in a custom white Thakoon dress and Nicholas Kirkwood shoes) along with Kelly Osbourne, Jourdan Dunn, Revenge actress Ashley Madekwe and Pixie Geldof. The group posed for snaps, looking like the most glam bunch of friends ever.

Rita Ora posted a photo on Instagram (below) saying "Man I love bad bitches that's my f**kin problem!!! #metgala"

Olivia Burton Watches: LOOK’s New Accessory Lust-Have

Two watches from new label Olivia Burton

Watches are just as important to our accessory collection as a statement necklace or chandelier earrings, so new label Olivia Burton’s chic timepieces have rocketed right to the top of our wish list. The brainchild of fashion industry insiders Lesa Bennett and Jemma Fennings, Olivia Burton started life after the duo struggled to find their perfect watch.

From statement oversized dials in glossy rose gold – very Victoria Beckham – to quirky animal illustrated styles and timeless dainty designs, they’ve got all bases covered. The strap and back of each watch is stamped with Olivia Burton’s signature bird motif, adding to the luxe, boutique feel. With prices starting at just £52, we’d say they're a no-brainer accessory investment.
