Street Style: The Tonal Trend Taking Over

We spotted the style set rocking head-to-toe white a few weeks ago, and now it looks as if anyone worth their Chanel is whitewashing their wardrobes for pristine summer style. Take the Met Gala, one of the biggest fash events of the social calendar, where both Rihanna and Victoria Beckham opted for long, clean silhouettes in the colour of the moment.

Rihanna opted for a tum-baring, long sleeved crop and maxi skirt designed by her pal Stella McCartney, while Victoria was of course modelling her own design. Their white gowns made such an impression on us that, when we saw our stylish set from LOOK What I’m Wearing also working an all-white look, we were ready to commit to one-tone summer dressing!

We love Jansell Gillian’s easy, breezy street style with her ripped Topshop denim and cropped Asos jumper – her retro plimsolls (also Topshop) might just be our new obsession. Meanwhile Vanessa Hill shopped her whites in H&M, opting for a simple T-shirt dress and lace-up boots. Our style inspos have all kept their accessories to a minimum, even on the red carpet – classic silver pieces work best to keep the look polished.

Nail the look with Zara’s ethereal embroidered maxi dress, or copy Jansell’s more relaxed approach with Topshop’s cute cut-off dungarees. Either way, it looks as though summer might just be a white out!
