Street Style: How To Do Sports Luxe

Nothing fills us with equal parts of slight trepidation and sartorial excitement more than the words ‘sports luxe’. It’s a trend we’re drawn to for its effortless appeal and nonchalant cool, but in reality it’s quite tricky to make your sweatpants scream Stella McCartney. So when we clocked Charlotte Lewis giving very good street style, we decided to make her our new connoisseur and general oracle on all things sport (luxe, that is).

If joggers are good enough for Chanel’s trip to the supermarket, then they’re most definitely on our wish list too. And Charlotte nails it in her Nicole x Missguided pair, even daring to double up her leather with a white top also from Missguided. Monochrome New Balance trainers and a Grafea rucksack are the only additions needed, as well as a statement pair of sunnies (obvs).

Just as we were planning our own homage to Charlotte’s jogger style, we spotted her scoring yet another fashion home run in a Pretty Little Thing white jumper with sheer inserts, a laser-cut Chicwish skirt with a high/low hem and some seriously covetable Nikes. She even showcased yet another gorge Grafea bag, and added a leather cap and statement necklace.

What we’ve deduced from Charlotte’s enviable street style is that it’s much easier to achieve this aesthetic by sticking to simple monochrome separates and a few key accessories. Balance out a feminine detail, like a skirt or piece of jewellery, with a slouchy sweater. Details such as mesh panels are also an easy way to channel the trend. The result is a clean, polished take on sports luxe that’ll make you worthy of even those Chanel joggers…
