Spring’s Hottest Dress Hits The High Street-You’ll Love It!

We’re not sure whether it’s the 50 Shades influence, but lace-up details are having a real revival this spring and adorn everything from shirts to tailoring and our favourite, frocks. Leave the 90s corset and raunchy underwear associations at home though because this micro trend is way more chic.

Kick-started by the lace detail on Gucci’s SS15 denim shirt dress, it’s all about a tie-up detail neckline that when paired with tan accessories, totally nails spring’s massive 70s trend. The trend didn’t stop with Gucci either – lacings and ties were spotted across the designer board, with fashion houses such as Dior and Isabel Marant getting in on the action too.

Shoelace detailing has also made its way onto the red carpet, with various celebs trying out the tie-up trend. Victoria’s Secret model Lily Aldridge opted for a daring lace-up dress (also by Gucci) in a sumptuous shade of burgundy, proving you can work the trend in two very different ways.

From boho chic to vampy, the high street is full of lace-up frock offerings right now. Topshop and Zara are a must-visit for retro vibes, while celeb-loved online boutique The Reformation has an amazing lookalike of Lily’s red number. If you’re feeling brave, this black denim Topshop dress has a deep laced V and a-line shape for ultimate wow factor – try with thigh high boots for added va va voom – or  team Zara’s peasant style piece with gladiators and a fringed cross body.

It’s officially time to embrace the lace!
