After nine years of waiting, all are dreams have come true: the Spice Girls have recorded a new song.
Well, we use the name Spice Girls rather loosely. As any devoted fan is probably aware, VB and Mel C declined to take part in the 20th anniversary celebrations (sob!), so the new song comes courtesy of Geri, Emma and Mel B. In case you were wondering, the trio have allegedly named themselves GEM, natch.
The three-piece’s debut single, titled Song For Her, has been leaked and The Sun have heard an early copy. According to The Sun it’s a “perfect pop” tune described as “a cross between Rita Ora’s Poison and Rachel Platten’s Fight Song”. The suspense is killing us.
The lyrics supposedly reference the pressure of being a mother and career woman. “Wipe up your tears of doubt you have been crying, lift up your dreams feel like you’re flying, never forget the girl is the woman you are,” one line reads.
“Obviously the girls have been recording in the studio over the past few months. The plan is very much for there to be new music,” a source close to the three told The Sun.
“It’s a Spice Girls song through and through and it’s something millions of their fans will be able to relate to having grown up with them,” the source added.
We CANNOT wait.
