Fashion’s Power Players Hit The Chanel Couture Show

The fashion elite has descended on Paris for the couture shows, and, ever the hot ticket, Chanel pulled in quite the stylish crowd this morning. Karl Lagerfeld darlings Alexa Chung, Diane Kruger and Clemence Poesy joined industry heavyweights Anna Dello Russo and Carine Roitfeld front row as the French fashion house celebrated it’s 80th birthday with an autumn/winter 2012 couture show staged in a stately conservatory decked out with white wicker chairs and silk roses.

Alexa mixed her signature blend of tomboy cool with Chanel gloss, teaming an oversized knit with a boucle mini and super sexy fluffy, studded killer heels, while Diane oozed Parisian effortlessness in a powder blue dress, peaked cap and studded flats – a feat only Kruger could pull off at a couture show! Clemence added edge to an LBD with boyish buckled shoes and fashion royalty Anna Dello Russo turned heads (as always) in a silver sequined skirt suit, jewelled YSL heels and embellished cat eye shades.

On the catwalk, models showcased Lagerfeld’s ‘new vintage’ collection, inspired by Chanel’s greatest hits. Boucle suits worn by Coco Chanel in the 1940’s were given a modern spin with pearl fastenings and lurex threads, alongside 60’s style patch pocket dresses, sequin lounge suits and couture kaftans, climaxing with an exquisite frou frou bridal gown.
