Selena Gomez Gets Her Own Netflix Show

She’s cracked the music biz and now Selena Gomez is taking on Hollywood.

Okay, so it’s not quite the big screen, but Selena’s about to be part of a 13-episode miniseries based on the 2007 novel “13 Reasons Why” by Jay Asher. It’s not known if the stylish hit-maker will star in the show yet but she will serve as Executive Producer on the project. Go, Selena!

The popular book is the story of Hannah Baker, a high school student who commits suicide. The plot follows a classmate of Hannah’s, Clay (yet to be cast) as he receives cassette tapes from her which he must pass on to 12 peers and that detail how they each played a part in her death. Hooked yet? You will be.

This isn’t Selena’s first foray into producing as she served as Exec Producer for the Disney Channel’s “Wizards Of Waverly Place” TV Movie back in the day. It’s said that after reading the book, Selena along with her mother, Mandy Teefey and producer, Kristel Laiblin, put the story forward for a screen adaptation. The trio are set to all Exec produce on the project – now that’s a girl gang we want to be in!

Not content with her musical success, Selena’s been forging a screen career for a while now, lending her voice to Adam Sandler’s animated “Hotel Transylvania” and it’s sequel plus starring roles in “Rudderless” and “Spring Breakers” with James Franco.

No release date has been set for “13 Reasons Why” as yet, but with new solo album Revival out hot on the heels of her platinum single Good For You and a part in “Neighbours 2” the follow up to Zac Efron and Seth Rogen’s 2014 hit film, we’re wondering when Selena’s going to fit it all in.

One thing’s for sure, it’s on our must-watch box set list already. Pass the popcorn!
