What do you get when you add Louis Vuitton with Rio de Janerio and a bevvy of beautiful models? The luxury label’s Cruise 2017 show, of course.
As if Brazil wasn’t hot enough already, Nicolas Ghesquiere, the brand’s creative director, took fashion’s elite to the famous city by the sea to showcase the collection on Saturday afternoon. Oscar winner Alicia Vikander and Jaden Smith, both Louis Vuitton campaign stars, were there, as were Zendaya, Isabeli Fontana and Alessandra Ambrosio. The lucky attendees were treated to helicopter rides, shopping trips and of course, a front seat at the stunning show..
Jealous, us? Never.
The show itself was held at the Niteroi Contemporary Art Muesum, a space ship like building with a back drop of Sugarloaf Mountain and the sea. Quite frankly, you would of been forgiven for not even noticing the clothes. But then model Mica Arganaraz took to the red carpet opening the show and the another kind of beauty started.
The hyper graphic, vibrantly colourful and sporty collection were fitting in the city set to host the Olympics this summer. Inspired by racing cars, NASCAR like designs adorned the futuristic style dresses, skirts and jackets in a beautiful array of vibrant hues. Tank tops also featured illustrated images of famous Brazilian football legend, Pele. Thong toe booties, skinny sequin scarves and an 80s boombox bag that actually plays music via Bluetooth technology, made up the must-have-it-or-we’ll-die accessories collection. Swoon.
Despite there never before being a major fashion show in Rio, Brazil itself is home to some of the world’s top paid models including former and current angels; Gisele Bunchen, Alessandra Ambrosio and Andriana Lima, the latter two who were both in attendance.
Louis Vuitton’s Creative Director Ghesquiere said; “Nature is explosive here, and at the same time you have these wonderful buildings. It’s a beautiful chaos.” Indeed it is.
The girl from Ipanema has never looked so good.
