Since taking on the role of Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City for close to ten years, it’s not hard to see how actress Sarah Jessica Parker might find herself slipping into the habits of her character.
But in an interview with E! Online, SJP has revealed that similarities between her and Miss Bradshaw are actually pretty thin on the ground.
On the one hand, she said: “I think in many ways I’m like Carrie because I would much prefer to be interviewing you, for instance. I’m very curious about other people, and that’s why I like the subway. Because I can just watch people.”
“And that’s why I like cities. And I love this city, and I have a fondness that is kind of hard to explain to people, so I can relate to that.”
But according to Sarah, that’s where the similarities come to an end.
“I think there’s not a lot about Carrie that is actually similar to my life,” she added.
“Our choices have been so radically different. There are certain kinds of pillars that are fundamentally different.”
One thing in particular sprang to mind..
“I like clothing, but I don’t have anywhere near a fevered relationship that she does.”
Bearing in mind Refinery29’s recent collaboration with The Take to do the maths on how much SJP’s iconic outfits cost, though, we’d say that’s understandable – award-winning actress or not. (Without going into too much detail, an average Carrie ensemble comes in at roughly £2000.)

On a similar note, when asked whether she would give up food for Vogue, Miss Parker insisted, “No. No, I would never give up food. Ever.”
A girl after our own heart, then.
Meanwhile, we can’t help but hope an SATC3 might be in the pipeline. Make our dreams come true, SJP!
