Rita Ora has just revived one of the most love/hate beauty trends of the ’90s – blue eyeshadow.
The British pop star stepped out for a date night with boyfriend Ricky Hil working a vivid blue shimmer reaching nearly up to her brow bone, complete with a dab of shadow underneath and lashings of black mascara.
Blue eyeshadow is set to be huge for spring, so it’s time to forget the retro connotations and get involved with the new season beauty trend.
Jennifer Lopez, beauty chameleon queen, has even been rocking the trend.
The 45-year-old turned up to the American Idol Series 14 finalist party in LA looking her usual trim and toned self in a super short collared white mini dress featuring gold floral embellishment.
But while her sleek white clutch and suede nude courts were J Lo all over, the singer opted for a decidely different make-up look for the night.
Jen had ditched usual bronzed eye look in favour of striking frosty baby blue eyeshadow which lined the top and bottoms of her peepers and made her look insanely youthful.
Adding just a thin sweep of liquid eyeliner along her top lid and a touch of mascara, J Lo continued her ice queen theme with a sprinkle of sparkly pink blush along her cheekbones, acting as a highlighter.
For a more subtle look, choose a translucent shadow like Bare Minerals Shimmer Eyecolor in Ell-If-I-Know (£14). Blending is key to this look, so brush the shadow gently along your lash lines and stick to just one layer.

Mixing a touch of white eyeshadow with your blue shade does wonders for making your peepers pop – we recommend dotting a bit in the inner corners of your eye to open them up. Make sure to add liner and mascara to define your eyes and prevent them from getting lost in the blue.
Another way to work the trend is by giving blue mascara a go – we love this YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Blue Mascara (£25) for a subtle but in-your-face beautiful look.
