To help you celebrate Red Nose Day in style Lulu Guinness has teamed up with Sainsbury’s to create three limited edition totes. Totally inspired by her mainline and oozing signature kitsh, the bags feature monochrome stripes, lips, cartoon eyes and, of course, red noses. Each one is just £5, with £1.50 going to Comic Relief – We’re tempted to buy all three, it is for charity after all!
We caught up with the designer herself to quiz her on everything from what inspires her bag designs, who the funniest person in fashion is and what designers she’s championing this London Fashion Week.

What inspired the bag designs?
The bags incorporate some of my signature designs including the Kooky Cat, Cut Out Lip print and the Peeping Doll!
Which one is your favourite and why?
That would have to be the Peeping Doll design. The original design this bag was based on was inspired by my favourite Hitchcock movies and represents someone peeping through a venetian blind, it also incorporates my signature black & white stripe!
Why Comic Relief?
Because I like that the money doesn’t just go to one charity and also supports the smaller charities that can sometimes get missed as they aren’t the most ‘fashionable’.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done for charity?
I’m not sure actually, I haven’t done anything as crazy as shave my head or a bungee jump but that’s not to say I wouldn’t!
Comic Relief is all about being funny for money; tell us your best joke.
I don’t have a joke per se but this is one of the funniest one-liners I have heard in a long time, ‘I’m not into exercise. If God wanted me to bend over he would have put diamonds on the floor. Joan Rivers said that!
Who’s the funniest person in fashion and why?
The late Joan Rivers on Fashion Police!
What makes the perfect bag?
One that stands out in the crowd and gets all your essentials in it – essentials being your bank card/cash, keys and a lipstick of course!
Loads of celebrities have worn your designs, which one was your favourite and why?
That is very hard to say but most recently seeing Miley Cyrus accessorizing another of her fun outfits with my Hands Backpack made my day. But I’m flattered when any celeb chooses to wear one of my bags!
London Fashion Week is coming up, what are you looking forward to?
Simone Rocha, Erdem and Roksanda!
Which Brit designers are you championing?
I’m very excited to see what Emilia Wickstead has in store for us! I adored her SS15 collection.
What exciting projects have you got coming up in 2015?
Well I’m about to launch ‘Culture Cloud’ which will sit as an extension to my ’Lulu’s World’ blog which will allow my customers to have much more of an insight into my favourite things in life and be home to culturally inspiring content! A new ‘Culture Cloud’ will be launched every 6/8 weeks with content uploaded to an online hub and followed up with an in-store customer event shortly after.
