If you’re like the majority of January resolution makers, you’ve probably made a commitment to go to the gym this month. But you might want to halt before heading to that spin class, especially when you find out what's probably going on behind closed changing room doors at your workout haunt.
A new survey commissioned to discover how people behave in the gym has found that, wait for it, 25% of gym goers are getting it on in the gym. Yep, you read that right - a quarter of the gym-goers who took part in the poll admitted to having sex at the gym in the last 12 months.
So that favorite personal trainer of yours and that woman you’ve officially made your new fitspo? They could very well be getting it on in the changing rooms (considering a fifth of the survey participants also revealed they've had sex with their PT's, it's definitely not out of the realms of possibility).
Now the first thing that popped into our minds was where the hell can you get it on in a gym without being, ahem, interrupted? And that's before we even begin to imagine how unsexy a gym 'sesh' would actually be. However the study, which was conducted by Ann Summers, went on to reveal that working out pumps the body full of endorphins (obvs), which in turn boost your self-esteem making you feel, for lack of a better word, awesome. This, in turn, clearly enhances your libido – so much so that 66% of the people surveyed candidly said the thought of getting their freak on in the gym helped to fuel their workout. We don't know about you, but a glass of wine is our idea of an incentive, not sweaty gym sex.
What’s even more jaw-dropping is the fact that 10% admitted that they carry a condom in their gym bags, just in case. REALLY? We don't know about you, but we'll definitely be toting disinfectant wipes to our next gym session…
