Gucci showed their AW14 collection yesterday at Milan Fashion Week and on first inspection we couldn’t quite believe what we were seeing. Amongst the ’60s-inspired minidresses in buttery soft leather and of-the-moment pastels, there were also actual, real, blue jeans
While this may seem like a slight overreaction to a humble pair of denims, we’d never have expected designer Frida Giannini to send them down her catwalk. Her legendary fashion house is so synonymous with full-on Italian glamour, but rather than seeming out of place, they breathed a whole new life into the autumn/winter collection.
The jeans were paired with gorgeous coats in a whole host of textures and colours, from an oversized pink shearling to a tailored, mohair pea jacket. There were also dusty pink bikers which made us swoon, and the python Chelsea boots just topped it all off. Whatever happens next winter, we want to be wearing our jeans the Gucci way.
