Naomi Campbell is the latest celebrity to join the #FreeTheNipple campaign, posting a full frontal nude snap onto her page yesterday. The arty image was taken from a recent Mert & Marcus shoot for Garage magazine and showed Naomi baring her breasts. Captioning it with #FreeTheNipple, Naomi showed her support to change Instagram’s strict nudity laws.
Unfortnately though, the photo has now been removed from Naomi’s account, most likely by Instagram who have a no tolerance rule about users revealing too much flesh. Speaking recently on the topic of nudity, a spokesman for Instagram said:
“We know that there are times when people might want to share nude images that are artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reasons, we don’t allow nudity on Instagram.”
Never one to shy away from contraversy, we have a feeling Naomi won’t be happy that they have intervened with her account, but she’s not the first star to have imagery removed that doesn’t stay alined with the rules. Rihanna famously had her entire Instagram account deleted and stars like Scout and Rumer Willis have led campaigns to try and change the no-nudity rules. Vogue editor Grace Coddington infamously had a photo removed from her account of a drawing which showed cartoon breasts.

Although the photo has now been deleted, it certainly caused quite a stir and huge anticipation for what the rest of the shoot might entail. The 45-year-old supermodel looks sensational in the black and white snap which will appear in a two volume book by Taschen.
Ms Campbell has been in New York for a whole host of fashion parties this week and for the season two premiere of her show, Empire. We wonder if we will see her on any catwalks as London, Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks kick off.
