Miley Cyrus stormed the X Factor stage last night, and while her covered up look – not a latex two piece or leotard in sight – got everybody talking, here at Look HQ we couldn’t shake a sense of style déjà vu.
A quick bit of Googling proved we had in fact seen a version of Miley’s glistening gold frock and turban combo somewhere before – on Kate Moss at the Met Ball back in 2009. Attending with Marc Jacobs, the supermodel worked an asymmetric lame dress and matching headpiece by the designer to fashion’s equivalent of the Oscars. Miley’s research of Mossy’s wardrobe history didn’t stop there though, as the pop princess’ floor sweeping dress was a perfect mix of Kate’s Met Ball number and the now iconic, see-through gold Liza Bruce slip dress she wore to party with Naomi Campbell in 1994.
Well, they do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and quite frankly, we were just happy Ms Cyrus kept it a crotch-flashing, twerk-free zone.
