Made In Chelsea‘s Lucy Watson has reignited our obsession with the milkmaid braid after sharing this gorgeous on-set selfie on Instagram.
‘Queen of hair and make up @lydiawarhurs’, Lucy wrote alongside the snap.
We love this super girly style not only for its pretty preppy look, but also because it hides a multitude of sins. Bad hair day? Not shampooed since Monday? Got caught in the rain on your commute in? Hello, milkmaid braid…
So how do you do it? Well, this style works best on unwashed hair with some texture, so if it’s too clean, rub some mousse through the lengths first.
Split hair into a messy parting and tie in two bunches to start. Roughly plait the bunches and fix with clear hair ties, or backcomb the ends and secure with hairspray.
Then wrap one plait over the top of your head and secure behind the ear with two crossed Kirby grips.
Once the first plait is secure, wrap the second over the top – make sure it is about an inch behind the hairline so that you’ll be able to see the plaits from the front.
Secure the braids with more hair pins, pinning them together to make it extra secure. Finish off with hairspray. Easy!
