So it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing Michelle Keegan on Strictly Come Dancing this year. Sad face.
Rumours about the ex-Coronation Street actress joining the show have been swirling for quite a while – but now her husband Mark Wright has put a stop to them.
Mark, 28 – who came fourth on last year’s contest – reckons Mich’s schedule is way too packed to give her time for Strictly, telling the Daily Star: ‘I don’t think she wants to do it.
‘She’s busy with her own work at the moment. She’s going to be in the BBC One drama Our Girl, playing an Army medic.
‘That means she will be away filming for a while. But there are always flights I can get to see her, so it’ll be fine.’
Hmmm. Let’s hope he’s just bluffing…
Michelle, 28, will be replacing Lacey Turner in army drama Our Girl, and it seems the entire NATION (as well as Mich) is excited about it.
‘I’m a massive fan of the series so can’t wait to be a part of it’, Michelle said. ‘It’s going to be a big but exciting challenge for me.’
The former Coronation Street star will start filming her explosive new project in January 2016, and her female medic character will be sent out to Kenya (while Lacey’s Molly Dawes fought in Afghanistan) on a mission that will be ‘full of surprises’, producers say.

A BBC spokesperson told the newspaper: ‘It won’t be an easy posting as she has to earn the love and trust of her fellow soldiers, and the greater respect of her commanding officer, while working alongside aid workers in the world’s biggest refugee camp.’
We were big fans of the last series, which pulled in a whopping 6.3 million viewers, and which not only featured plenty of drama, but also some handsome fellas and romance too. We wonder if the same will be in store for Mich?!
This role will be the first high profile TV work Michelle’s done since her wedding to Mark Wright. After the beautiful festivities in Suffolk (and that exotic honeymoon), the newlywed took to Twitter with a firm slap back to reality.
‘Back to reality…The one word I can use to describe this whole month is ‘Magical’ So happy and so grateful. Here’s to the next chapter…’, she wrote.
We’re so excited to see Michelle on screen again! Are you?
