Mega Blogger Nadia Aboulhosn Designs For Boohoo

As plus size blogger Nadia Aboulhosn’s collection for Boohoo launches (today yay!), we chatted to the stunning star about what inspired the range, while she dished out her ultimate fashion and beauty advice.

We love the Boohoo collection Nadia. How did the collaboration happen?

“Thank you! Well I’ve been wearing Boohoo over the past years and when I became the brand ambassador for their plus line, the capsule collection just made sense and fell into place. It felt right.”

Have you always been a Boohoo fan?

“Absolutely. I went to a showroom a few years back to look at another brand who wanted me to wear their clothes and as soon as I saw the Boohoo rack, I walked over and was like ummm who is Boohoo and I need all of it. Haha! So from then on, it’s been love.”

Where else do you love to shop on our side of the pond?

“Pssh everywhere. I feel like the U.K. has the best brands. Take me over there forever.”

What inspired the collection?

“I’m in a minimal phase right now. Monochrome colors and an androgynous feel.”

Have you covered any key spring/summer 2015 trends?

“Bright and soft color palettes.”

Which is your favourite piece and how would you style it?

“I keep changing my favorite piece every time I look at the collection but I’d have to say the two-piece baby blue asymmetrical skirt set and I’d wear it with white ankle strap heels.”

What are your ultimate tips for plus-size girls who may lack body confidence?

“Keep reminding yourself you’re beautiful even if you don’t believe it. Focus on what you do love about yourself rather than what you don’t.”

Your blog has become a bit of a phenomenon, how did it all happen?

“A lot of hard work and persistence. I’d blog three to four times a week, reach out to brands so they’d hear about me. I was contacted by Seventeen Magazine to model for them and of course agreed. Then I won American Apparel’s model search and just kept up putting myself out there. It was a long process but worth it.”

What’s been your most amazing fashion moment so far?

“This. Being able to co-design for such a great brand. I’ve been working for years to get to this moment and it’s been a really long time coming. I’m incredibly grateful and it was really worth all the time and effort building up to this moment.”

Any other designers you’d love to work with?

“Elie Saab, I’ve always been a huge fan of his work.”

Plus-size fashion has come along way in the past few years, do you think there is still further to go?

“Absolutely. I think there has been great change and people are more accepting of it but hopefully with time high end designers will be willing to broaden their collections.”

You’re an inspiration to many girls, but who’s style or body inspires you?

“I really don’t have anyone in particular, but I do love Solange’s style.”

Who’s wardrobe would you love to raid?

“Probably Rihanna’s, Solange’s, or Kim Kardashian’s.”

Do you think it’s important to send out a positive message about plus size?

“Of course. We have to. Everyone does. These are still people whether or not you like people who are ‘plus size’.”

You’ve been compared to Kim Kardashian, how does that feel?

“I honestly love Kim Kardashian. I think she’s a smart, beautiful business woman. To be able to flip a negative into a positive is inspiring. People can say we lookalike as long as they recognize I’m my own person.”

Talk us through your beauty regime.

“I don’t do too much because I’m the worst at applying make up haha but I use spf 15 moisturizer every morning. Then most the time use a little sea salt spray for my hair and then blow dry it for some more volume. Foundation, a little bit of bronzer, mascara on top and bottom lashes, and then most importantly, a little bit of dark eyeshadow in my eyebrows.”

Any products you can’t live without?

“Kat Von D studded lipstick in Lovecraft color. I absolutely could wear it with every outfit.”

Finally, what would be your ultimate fashion advice?

“Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident. A woman could have the flyest outfit on but if her confidence doesn’t show through, it’s not the same!”
