Since announcing the closure of the brand’s (cheaper) diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs, the designer vowed to mark his parent company Marc Jacobs at more affordable price points. And true to his word – that’s exactly what he’s done.
Yep, while Marc by Marc Jacobs still left a pretty big dent in our bank balance, the contemporary line was considerably cheaper in comparison to its luxury counterpart Marc Jacobs.
But now, the designer has confirmed that his spring accessories will come in at prices we might actually be able to fork out for (at least without going hungry for the rest of the month). Eek!
In fact, an impressive 70% of accessories from Marc Jacobs’ SS16 collection will be priced at less than £350, with the trend set to continue into future seasons.
OK, so we get that £350 isn’t exactly going to go unnoticed come the end of the month, but for a designer investment that you’ll wear time and time again, we can’t help but feel seriously excited.
Marc Jacobs CEO Sebastian Suhl told Women’s Wear Daily: “Marc Jacobs is the first designer fashion house that offers a significant portion of product at democratic prices.
“We are definitely doing a designer story in terms of positioning and how we present ourselves in department stores.”
Everything from that bucket bag to metallic platforms, statement-making shades and jaw-dropping jewellery has been included in the transformation, and is available to pre-order or buy on Marc Jacobs now.
Psst, we thought it might be useful to remind you that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Are you thinking what we’re thinking? Get drafting those lists, ladies…
