LOOK Talks To Hot Hollywood Starlet Ashley Madekwe

If you’ve already got your hands on this week’s issue of LOOK, you’ll see we managed to pin down the super cool Brit star of US TV smash Revenge, Ashley Madekwe to talk all things fashion. She talked us through her high street hot spots – Zara, Topshop and River Island – and red carpet tips, but the leading lady of upcoming drama film Victim (out on June 22nd) had way more to share…

LOOK: Describe your style to us Ashley.

Ashley: My style is very uncommitted! I love fashion and I want to try all of it all the time! I’m drawn towards embellishment. Anything studded, leather and/or leopard print always catches my eye.

L: How do you make high street pieces red carpet worthy?

A: I think you can make any high street item look luxe by throwing in a higher end piece. If I’m wearing a high street dress I usually wear a special pair of shoes. Pulling a look together with makeup can also help to elevate it.

L: Tell us about your last five high street fashion buys?

A: I’ve stocked up on my favourite skinny “Jamie” jeans from Topshop. Two pairs lilac & acid wash, a python print bikini from River Island, and Zara sandals with snake print straps.

L: What are your go-to styles for the red carpet and off-duty?

A: I like short and flirty for the red carpet and I love mixing it up by wearing shorts instead of a skirt or dress. When I’m off duty in LA I’m mostly in my vintage Levi denim shorts teamed with silky blouses and flat sandals.

L: Are you a heels or handbags girl?

A: Both! I told you I’m uncommitted!

L: Who or what inspires your style?

A: I really enjoy looking at personal style & street style blogs. I find it more interesting to see pieces working on real girls in real life than in an editorial.

L: How do you get ready if you’ve only got five minutes to spare?

A: Jeans, a t-shirt, red lipstick, hair in bun then throw on some heels.

L: Which celebrity’s wardrobe would you most like to raid – past or present?

A: Bianca Jagger – I loved her YSL ‘Le Smoking’ suits and studio 54 chic.

L: Do you have any pieces you couldn’t bear to part with?

A: I have a Lenny Kravitz tour t-shirt from the ‘Universal Love tour’. It’s worn in to perfection and travels the world with me. I also love my Balenciaga motorcycle jacket – it gets better every time I wear it.

Victim will be in cinemas from June 22nd 2012.
