Yesterday we spent the afternoon with fashion designer Marc Jacobs (lucky us!) as he unveiled his new bottle designs and ad campaign for Diet Coke.
Celebrating their 30th Anniversary this year, Diet Coke and Marc invited LOOK along to the German Gymnasium in London for a chat, preview of the new telly adverts (which he stars in) and evening party to celebrate the occasion.
He told us: “Diet Coke’s an icon, and part of my culture. I jumped at the opportunity to design these bottles and star in the campaign. I love attention!”
The catwalk king, responsible for making grunge and layering popular in the 90s, has designed three limited edition bottles to celebrate ’30 years of sparkling together’, depicting the past three decades in fashion.
He added: “The 80’s bottle is all about big shouldered, very powerful, slightly androgynous women. The 90s was a big turning point in fashion for me, so I decided to do something glamorous with that bottle, hence the pink dress and hat.
“The noughties is more about now and represents the eclectic, eccentric ‘anything goes’ kind of attitude.”
We’ll definitely be adding all three to our designer Diet Coke bottle collection – this hook-up might just be our favourite yet!
The limited edition bottles and collectors cases are on sale in Selfridges now. LW
