LOOK HQ may be in London, but we don’t like to rest on our fashion laurels by ignoring what the rest of the globe has to offer, style-wise.
With that in mind, we hit the Dutch city of Amsterdam in Holland in search of fashion finds, cool outfits and hot hangouts to inspire us.
Taking the Stena Line ferry from Harwich International Port to the Hook of Holland, we jumped on a train to Amsterdam Central station before setting up camp at the city’s coolest fashion location, Hotel The Exchange.
Now, we heard that this design desination is exceptional – it’s known as “the hotel with rooms dressed like models” – but nothing could prepare us for how beautiful it actually is in real life.
Rooms are themed with a fashion spin, like the 18th century Marie-Antoinette Room (pictured). Accessorised with a dramatic feather-clad telephone and romantic, boudoir-appropriate wallpaper and sheets, it’s a real feast for the eyes. Other rooms include the Pleats Room, with surreal moulded walls, and the Epaulettes Room, complete with hand-braided blue trimmings, just like the uniform classic.
Then there’s OPTIONS!, the hotel’s on-site shop packed with fashion buys, trinkets, interiors and student design collections. Well worth a rummage! Don’t miss the café, Stock, next door, serving all-day breakfasts and locally made snacks.
As for the fashion, well, we weren’t dissappointed by the Dutch stylistas, as you can see her from our street style finds! Cute bow collars, statement prints and bold hats, there’s something edgy yet wearable about these ladies’ style and we like it!
