Beyonce, Kim Kardashian West, and Kate Upton are just a few of the many A-listers to have graced the cover of French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book. And now, popstar Lady Gaga has been added to the never-ending roster of celebs. Yep, for the 7th edition of the book, Gaga adorns the cover in a shoot by famed photog Bruce Weber.
What’s more, the cover shows the 29-year-old as a bride dressed all in white, giving us a sneak preview of how Gaga will look as a bride in her impeding wedding with actor Taylor Kinney. But in true Gaga style, that’s not the only difference to your average shoot – the edition sees her in a series of completely un-retouched images.
In the inside interview, she tells us why: “As a 29-year-old girl, at this stage in my pop career everybody goes, ‘Oh she’s getting old,’ and everybody’s so worried about having a perfect body, a perfect face, and perfect hair. When, you know, actually, legacy and longevity is about having some sort of story and footprint to leave in the world when you die, chasing your talent until you’re dead. And that, as an artist, you love your art ‘til death. It’s the antithesis of what I was taught growing up, which is that at this age I would have to fight in order to continue to look young, in order to continue to be trendy. When, you know, I never was trendy. I was always anti-trend.”
You go, Gaga. Carine added:
“I wanted to show her completely natural, all herself.”
And how gorgeous she looks too!
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Mormon model Lucky Blue Smith has been tapped as the new face of CR Men’s Book. Shot by Sebastian Faena, the shoot sees Smith in an equally obscure light, with only his piercing blue eyes visible.
