Kendall Jenner debuted a very different hairstyle yesterday.
The model’s older sister Khloe Kardashian was the one to show us Kendall’s ‘do, posting a photo of them with eldest sibling Kourtney on Instagram.
In the image, Kendall – who’s on holiday in St Barts with her family – had paired her patterned bikini with elegant jewellery and braided locks.
Not sure why this is a big thing?
Well. Kendall, 19, may need to be a *teeny* bit careful about working braids. Her younger sister Kylie Jenner caused quite the uproar when she recently posted a similar shot online.
It all started off pretty innocently. The 17-year-old uploaded the image to Instagram, captioning it: ‘I woke up like disss.’
But her cornrows caught the eye of The Hunger Games actress Amandla Stenberg, who accused her of ‘appropriating black culture’ while ‘failing to help black Americans’.
Then Justin Bieber leaped to his pal Kylie’s defence. The singer is no stranger to controversy himself, so it’s no surprise he felt for the KUWTK star.
Last night, he wrote under the image-in-question: ‘Guys leave her alone, were all trying to figure it out and she happens to be under a microscope! I’m the first to know this.
‘But saying she’s being racist because she wants her hair in braids is ridiculous. lets focus on the bigger picture and instead of fighting over something stupid lets do something about equality, but it doesn’t start here blasting a 17 year old kid for wearing braids smh.’
Amandla, 16, appeared to comment on Kylie’s image with the words: ‘When u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter.’

Kylie has recently been promoting a new wig line.
Being Kylie, she couldn’t help reacting. The youngest Kardashian/Jenner girl apparently hit back with: ‘Mad if I don’t, Mad if I do… Go hang w Jaden or something,’ in reference to the fact that Amandla went to prom with Jaden Smith.
Amandla has previously spoken out against ‘cultural appropriation’ and has since written a blog post about black femininity, which she posted on both Twitter and Instagram.
An extract includes: ‘While white women are praised for altering their bodies, plumping their lips and tanning their skin, black women are shamed although the same features exist on them naturally.’
It’s definitely a thought-provoking point.
Aside from this, Kylie was busy working her new bright blue hair like a boss at the weekend, whilst looking amazing in plunging jumpsuits and teeny tiny crop tops on Instagram. Because if there’s anything she’s not, it’s body-shy.
But just a few months ago, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was hitting back at body-shamers after sharing a bikini snap and claiming she’d put on 15 lbs: ‘Yes, I gained weight there I said it so u don’t have to’, Kylie wrote.
And in a new interview, the star has revealed that her recent body confidence is due to a total health and fitness overhaul, after she made a surprising discovery about her diet.
‘I’m working out and I’m eating a lot better,’ she told E! news. ‘Well, I didn’t realise I was lactose intolerant.’
After discovering this surprising fact, Kylie (aka. the self-confessed junk food devotee) explains that it forced her to take a good look at what she was putting in her body.
‘I just became lactose intolerant like, this year’, she said. ‘And I love, cheese and everything so I’m so mad but… It was my year to eat bad. I was like, while I’m young, I might as well. I didn’t care about a diet or anything. But now, this last month, I’ve been working on it just for health reasons only.’
And if there’s one family member that’s going to inspire Kylie to hit the gym, it’s half-sister Khloe, who has totally transformed her body in the past six months.
Calling Khloe an ‘inspiration’, the reality TV star also revealed something surprising about Khloe’s diet, too.
‘She actually found out, which is interesting – I don’t know if she wants me to tell people this – that she was allergic to coconut oil and she was cooking everything with coconut oil,’ Kylier said. ‘So then she stopped that and then she like, lost all the water weight. She she’s doing really great.’
As well as opening up about her body issues, Kylie also gave us a giggle when she poked fun at her world-famous lip fillers.
After keeping quiet on her plumped up pout for nearly a year, it seems that since admitting she’s had work done, Kylie’s all up for having a laugh about the whole thing.
Sharing a funny quote on Instagram written above three lipstick marks in varying sizes, the quote read: ‘My love for you grows like Kylie Jenner’s lips’.
