Katy Perry, it turns out, made A LOT of money last year.
Because the singer is the latest cover star for Forbes magazine, who have just announced that she’s now the highest-paid female celebrity, beating Taylor Swift and Beyonce to the #1 spot.
Katy earned £86 million last year, which pretty much blows our minds. How?!
Well, partly from her massive Prismatic World Tour, where she played a whopping 124 shows in 27 different countries and which earned around £97 million.
But much of it came from her merchandise, too – her Prism tour was the fourth-best selling tour in the world, and with audience members spending an average of £12 a head, that adds up to a lot of dollar bills…
There’s also that Super Bowl performance she did (that 118.5 million people tuned into), plus her Cover GIrl and Pop Chips contract. Basically, she’s winning.
And Perry reacted to the news in the best way, writing next to a picture of her Forbes cover: ‘Before accepting the offer to be on the cover of Forbes, I was told that a lot of women have previously shied away from doing it.’
‘I wondered if it was because they thought socially it would look like they were flaunting or bragging or it wasn’t a humble decision. Ladies, there is a difference between being humble and working hard to see the fruits of your labor blossom, and your dreams realized.’

‘Hopefully this cover can be an inspiration to women out there that it’s okay to be proud of hard earned success and that there is no shame in being a boss. Also… don’t think that I didn’t celebrate this moment by going straight to Taco Bell and getting my crunch wrap supreme.’
The announcement comes shortly after Taylor and boyfriend Calvin Harris were named the highest-paid celebrity couple after Beyonce and Jay Z.
With their well-documented feud widely covered, we hope there’s no animosity between the stars after this news. Katy’s £86 million places her as the third highest-paid celebrity while Swift’s £50 million puts her at #8.
Katy’s Prism tour also beat Taylor’s 1989 tour to become the best-selling tour by a solo female artist in 2014.
Rivalry aside, both girls are equally as amazing in our eyes. Sistahs, are doing it for themselves.
