Kate & Cara on Friendship, Parties & Christmas

If we could invite anyone to our Christmas party, it would be Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne. And as the highest-paid and in-demand supermodels at the moment, it’s no wonder that Mango have brought them together for the second time to front their winter campaign.

Yep,after becoming joint poster girls for the high street hotspot earlier this year – September’s AW15 campaign marked their debut –  fashion’s hottest power pairing are back to showcase the killer winter collection.

From floor-sweeping frocks to cool jumpsuits and, of course, plenty of sparkle, the new Mango drop taps into both Kate and Cara’s signature style – case in point the plunging silver lame dress modeled by Ms Moss and Cara’s edgy all-in-ones. Add to that faux fur cover-ups, could-be-vintage kimonos and some beautiful jewels and you’re looking at a collection that ticks off every occasion in the jam-packed festive season.

For Cara, 23, and Kate, 41, it’s hardly work because off-set they’ve developed a close bond that goes beyond friendship, thanks largely to Kate’s desire to protect Cara in her early years of modelling. “I had no concept of saying no to anyone ever,” says Cara, who has been dating musician Annie Clark for over a year. ‘What happened is that I eventually said ‘no’ and to take a break – to the advice of Kate Moss who kind of picked me up off the floor passed out.”

However it’s Kate who might have leant on Cara recently, following what seems to be the breakdown of her marriage to 46-year-old rocker Jamie Hince. It seems she’s now moved on Count Nickolai Von Bismark, 28.

With all that going on, oh and the incredible new Mango collection to discuss, we got both Cara and Kate to divulge their style secrets, party plans and what you might find under the tree if you spend Chrismas eve at their house. Hint: it sparkles!

Hi Kate, Hi Cara, tell us who you think the MANGO woman is?

Cara: [She’s] fashion forward and confident.

Kate: She is confident & stylish. It’s good to be back working with the Mango team again, they are a great brand and I love this collection.

Were you glad to be reunited with each other for this campaign?

K: Cara and I [have] known each other forever and enjoy spending time together. Working with friends is always a bonus.

Can you define your own style in three words?

C: Comfortable. Quirky. Spontaneous.

K: Rock, chic, classic. [Cara’s is] indie and young

Everybody needs tips on how to find the perfect day-to-night party outfit, is there anything you can recommend to us?

C: I am still trying to figure it out. I normally wear what is comfortable but that doesn’t always mean it looks good!

K: Adding a heel, diamonds and a tux works.

What’s been your most memorable Christmas party ever?

K: Mine.

Cara, being from a big family, do the Delevingnes’ usually spend Christmas and New Year together?

C: Yes, we try!

How will you spend the holidays?

K: At home with my family and friends, I love a traditional Christmas.

What do you both think is the perfect Christmas gift?

C: My family got me a customized guitar a few years ago. It was really special.

K: [I like] jewels, to give and receive.
