Footwear giant Toms have officially kickstarted their annual ‘One Day Without Shoes’ campaign, but this year, there is a social media twist. The brand will be donating millions of pairs of Toms to children in need all over the world. How to take part? Simply snap an Instagram post of your bare feet.
Known for their charitable philosophy – for every pair that is bought, Toms donate a pair – but this campaign makes it even easier to help those in need.
To celebrate the company’s anniversary, from now until May 21st, simply post a snap of your bare feet with the hashtag #WithoutShoes and the company will send a pair of the slip ons to a child in need via charities including The Salvation Army.
Since it’s inception, 38 million pairs of shoes have been given away to children in 65 countries. The even better news is that about 40% of the shoes that are given away are actually made in the countries themselves, providing work for those less fortunate as well.
Having always had huge success in what they do, this latest effort will have an even bigger impact than before.
Company founder, Blake Mycoskie, explained to USA Today what the use of Instagram will allow:
“To scale something like this in order to help more people in an incredible opportunity, and one that couldn’t have happened just a few years ago. Social media is what makes Toms possible. Spreading the word between people who care is so easy now.”
