Jennifer Lawrence Recreates An Iconic Naked Pic

We may have been missing Jennifer Lawrence on the red carpet recently, but she just managed to blow our minds with a brand new photo shoot for Vanity Fair. Yep, she’s naked and draped in an actual snake. A giant Colombian red-tailed boa constrictor, to be precise.

The photograph was taken last July by Patrick Demarchelier in Hollywood, and we reckon it might just be one of J-Law’s most brilliant fashion moments yet. Because the picture is in fact an homage to the famous image captured by legendary fashion photographer, Richard Avedon, which features model Natassja Kinski lying naked with a snake curled around her body. Taken for Vogue in 1981, the photograph has since become iconic, spawning hundreds of posters and copies. Even Miss Piggy has attempted to recreate it!

Wearing nothing but a diamond bracelet and the boa, Jennifer smoulders in the pic, which can be seen in the March 2015 issue of the magazine. According to Vanity Fair’s fashion and style director, Jessica Diehl, “Jennifer has the perfect combination of strength, sexuality, and humor, and, above all, tomboy to pull this off.” We couldn’t agree more.

So was The Hunger Games actress not terrified at the prospect of getting so up-close and personal with the reptile? “Jennifer proved to be very brave and nonchalant about having a serpent wrapped around her body,” said the magazine’s West Coast editor, Krista Smith. “She only became uncomfortable when the snake took a fancy to her neck. Then the shoot was over and Mr. Boa went back into his box.” That’s one brave woman.
