Gwyneth Paltrow recently gave a speech at the #BlogHer15: Experts Among Us conference in New York. And in it, she revealed that she still drags ex-husband Chris Martin to brunch (yep, they’re divorced). Who knew?
The 42-year-old Oscar winner opened up about life as a co-parent, and her children Apple, 11, and Moses, 9. And there were some real revelations…
Last year, Gwyneth and Coldplay frontman Chris announced that they were ‘consciously uncoupling’ after 11 years of marriage. They then divorced back in April.
‘I think, unfortunately, though we couldn’t stay in a romantic relationship, we’re very, our values are very much around the importance of family and the importance of those relationships and I’m lucky that we’re aligned in that way,’ she said of the split.
‘And it’s been hard, and we’ve gone through really difficult times with it but we’ve always said these children are our priority.’
Even though they’re both now dating other people, the ex-couple have been spotted on holiday in Mexico together and even spending Valentine’s Day as a pair, which Gwyneth says was a measured step to keep their children feeling safe and happy.
‘What that really means is, “Even though today, you hate me and you never want to see me again, we’re going to brunch, because it’s Sunday and that’s what we’ll do!” You know, like, “That’s what’s happening!'” she said. ‘The children are our commitment.’

Exes who brunch? We praise these two for their ability to make that not totally awkward.
The Mortdecai actress also gave an insight into her life as a working mum. And mainly, her struggles with keeping her kids off social media (and herself off her own Instagram account!).
‘When you have children in the public eye, especially where there’s so much media and social media, it’s hard to find a balance’, Paltrow admitted.
‘At the end of the day, it’s like, I’m a mom and if they do something super cute, I want to post it, you know? But at the same time, you’re like, Uh. I want my life … I don’t think they have a great shot at anonymity at this point, but they’re great kids and they’re on a good track and you want to kind of keep them with a good head on their shoulders.’
And while daughter Apple’s on Instagram, Gwyn still keeps a tight leash when it comes to giving them ALL the technology.
‘They have iPads, and my daughter’s furious I haven’t gotten her a phone yet’, she laughed. ‘She’s 11. That’s still young! She’s like, This one has one and this one has one, and I’m like, You’re 11! It’s a discussion. She has a private Instagram account, and I don’t particularly love it, but I don’t know, this is the world we’re in.’
See? She’s just a down-to-earth mum brunching with her famous ex. No biggie…
