Gigi Hadid directed Joe Jonas' first music video as frontman of band DNCE

Gigi Hadid Turns Director For Joe Jonas’ First Music Video

Just when we thought Gigi Hadid couldn’t do anything more to impress us, the model-turned-actress-turned-fashionista has just added yet another string to her bow.

Yep, while it’s no secret that Miss Hadid is a pro in front of the camera, she’s just proved to us all that she also knows exactly what she’s doing behind it, too.

For her beau Joe Jonas (and DNCE’s frontman), Gigi took it upon herself to direct the band’s very first music video, “Cake By The Ocean” – and the result is pretty amazing.

“She’s always had a high creative eye, so she came up with the concept and we rolled with it,” Jonas told Entertainment Weekly.

The concept in question, though, is not what you’d expect (ignoring the song name, of course).

Co-directed by Black Coffee, the video features a whole shedload of cake throwing, cake puns and women clad in Guess bikinis (a nod to Hadid’s first campaign, no doubt) having their cake and throwing it too.

As well as all those beautiful women, Instagram sensation The Fat Jewish makes a surprising topless cameo appearance, oiling himself up with his own line of White Girl Rose.

Following that, the clip closes on one hell of a food fight courtesy of what might be the biggest cake we’ve ever laid eyes on.

And after the shoot, the cake was cleaned up the best way possible. “We all just ate the cake off the sand,” DNCE bassist and keyboardist Cole Whittle told Entertainment Weekly.

As for Gigi’s involvement, Jonas concluded: “She was a good boss.”

Indeed, if her debut is anything to go by, we can’t hope but help this will mark the first of many Gigi directorial gigs to come.
