Just like you guys, we REALLY don’t think we can wait until 2017 to see Emma Watson in Beauty And The Beast. And Luke Evans isn’t helping.
The actor, who will play Gaston in the live-action movie, has been gushing about how ‘wonderful’ Emma is as Belle as Toronto International Film Festival.
So far, details about the hugely anticipated film have been kept pretty hush-hush, so to hear exactly how Watson will be playing Belle is a real treat…
‘She’s great,’ he said of his co-star. ‘She epitomizes what Belle should be in the 21st century to young girls; she’s a strong woman. We all know Emma as Emma, a strong woman, she has a voice, she uses it very effectively and I admire her for that.’
‘She’s brought some of that to Belle’, Luke continued. ‘She’s not just a Disney princess, she’s more than a Disney princess, and she has a beautiful sensitive side to her. She’s quite delicate to look at, but she’s not at all. She’s a really strong, feisty woman and we have some fantastic scenes in the film. I was making her laugh more than she should have been laughing.’
Sounds like she was made for the part, right? But what about the challenging songs? Did the Harry Potter actress struggle? As if. ‘Great singing voice to boot’, he added. ‘She’s a triple threat. Makes me sick.’ It’s true. Emma really is good at everything.
Fans got to see a sneak peek of the live action adaptation at Disney’s D23 celebration earlier this month – and we’re very, very jealous.

In an official sizzle reel, Emma (and *that* yellow gown) made their official Disney Princess debut. But unfortunately, the studio were very careful to keep the footage under wraps.
However, there IS a photo of Emma in Belle’s famous dress doing the rounds on Twitter. We’re pretty sure it’s Photoshopped, but it’s keeping us happy for now.
Emma also appeared at the event via a video link, where she spoke about life behind the scenes of the upcoming musical film.
The 25-year-old gushed: ‘We have had an unbelievable time shooting Beauty And The Beast. Bringing Belle to life for me has been a complete dream come true.
‘I can’t wait for everyone to see the movie in 2017.’
When Emma was first cast, she excitedly revealed her big news via her Facebook page, writing: ‘I’m finally able to tell you… that I will be playing Belle in Disney’s new live-action ‘Beauty and the Beast’!
‘It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I’ll get to dance to ‘Be Our Guest’ and sing ‘Something There’’, she added. ‘My six-year-old self is on the ceiling – heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it. Emma xx.’
We’ve already seen the British star sing her heart out in last year’s Noah, so we know she’ll be good. Now back to those dresses…
It’s going to take one seriously fabulous costume department to design creations fit for Belle, aka. the prettiest Disney princess in the entire land, but we think we’ve already found her gown.
Take a look at Giambattista Valli’s SS15 Couture catwalk from Paris Fashion Week. Huge lace tulle, voluminous peplums in sugarplum shades, and the perfect Belle-esque modern yellow brocade ballgown.
Just add a few yellow ribbons in her hair and she’s done!
