The Karl Lagerfeld Hotel: It’s Really Happening…

Karl Lagerfeld

is not content with spontaneously building huge Chanel supermarkets in the middle of Paris – now he has his sights firmly set on hotel design.

The 80-year-old (yes, really!) will build his eponymous hotel in gambling haven Macau in China, and it’ll reportedly be ready by 2017. With 270 rooms in a 20-storey tower to design, Karl clearly has his work cut out for him, although we doubt that the fashion maestro is at all fazed by the idea. He says: “I only make rooms where I would like to sleep. It’s as simple as that.”

So while most 80 year-olds might be enjoying a slower pace of life, Karl is expanding his huge fashion empire. He’ll be in good company, as Versace are opening a 200-room Palazzo nearby.

Monsieur Lagerfeld says: “An entire hotel designed by me? I think the idea is great!” Oh so do we, Karl.
Now when can we check in?
