LOOK's Fashion Stylist Kate Andrews takes you behind the scenes on how to prep for a main fashion shoot...
Ever wanted to know what it’s really like to prep for a fashion shoot for a busy weekly magazine? Well, you’re about to find out. Over to LOOK’s Fashion Stylist, Kate Andrews…
“Before each main fashion shoot, I start by putting together a moodboard of how I envisage the shoot looking. Then, I make sure I’ve got one of my favourite photographers on board to snap on the day.
I then spend a day in central London visiting high street PRs in their showrooms to check out the latest collections and to select the best pieces – this week, I was after clothes with a cool, retro, sporty vibe.
Armed with a moodboard crammed with tonnes of #inspo for my shoot, I hit up the likes of New Look, H&M and River Island to check out the new samples soon to be hitting stores (I always ask my PR mates to help with this bit, as they know how to point me in the right direction).
Next, I think about how to style up the clothes I’ve chosen – watch me above for my top tips on how to wear my selection and with what.
Once I’ve selected the best clothes, shoes and accessories that the showroom has to offer, I then arrange for the PRs to courier them back to LOOK HQ where they are hung up by the lovely interns in the fashion cupboard.
I then use one of our many styling racks on the wall to style up 8 full outfits which I will then shoot on a model for an 8-page main fashion.
Be sure to pick up a copy of this weeks mag to see the end result!
