Armani Privé Just Introduced A New 'It' Colour

From the super starry front rows to the dreamy gowns and supermodel line-ups, it could only be Couture Fashion Week in Paris...

Armani Privé was a purple parade of frothy, feminine designs

Always a favourite with the A-list on red carpets around the world, Armani Privé put forward a strong case for the impending Oscars ceremony with a couture collection filled with frothy gowns, embellishment, ruffles and lots and lots of purple.

Sheer organza shorts finished with a flounce, quite literally, while ruffles decorated trouser seams, mini skirts and tops too. Delicate organza jackets were paired with trapeze skirts and flared-hem trousers while liquid silks and glossy satin finishes gave the entire offering a sense of fluidity.

The initial looks were all building up to the finale; a crescendo of gowns, from embellished slips to frothy ruffled dresses to billowing skirts. Violet, mauve, lilac... the only other colour to make an appearance here was black, and was used sparingly.

With bandeau ballgowns and asymmetric creations fit for a Hollywood starlet, there's no doubt we'll be seeing these couture marvels on a red carpet soon enough. The only question is who will wear them?

Cressida Bonas is becoming quite the Dior darling. We've spotted her at a few of the fashion house's shows now, dressed head-to-toe in the label. And for the SS16 Couture show, Cressida decided to don a pretty simple ensemble, but one which has got us totally obsessed.

On paper, it might not sound that overwhelming; a cream polo neck, black A-line mini and T-bar heels, but somehow, Cressida managed to make it look fresh. Best of all, it's suitably smart enough to wear to work (maybe add black tights though, so as not to catch a chill) every day, making your morning routine effortless as you no longer struggle to find an outfit.

We've even done the hard work for you, and found your high street answer to Cressida's separates from some of our favourite shopping haunts. You can thank us later.

As the first Dior collection since Raf Simons's departure, this couture offering was always going to be uncertain. Having said that, the team responsible stayed true to many of the elements of Raf's vision. There were riffs on the Dior signatures; the 'Bar' jacket, floral motifs, but with a young, contemporary edge. While it didn't feel as show-stopping or spectacular as the couture collections we came to expect from Dior under Raf's leadership, there were certainly things within this offering that were exquisite and perfectly cut.

There are rumours that Sarah Burton is being tapped as the new replacement for Raf, but meanwhile, the in-house design team is responsible for the RTW AW16 collection, scheduled to be shown at Paris Fashion Week in March.

If there’s one brand we can rely on to open Couture Fashion Week with a bang, it’s Versace – and with the help of one serious model army, that’s exactly what Donatella did.

Yep, the Italian fashion designer enlisted none other than Lara Stone, Irina Shayk, Stella Maxwell, Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Joan Smalls, Natasha Poly and even Gigi Hadid to showcase her designs.

But it wasn’t just the models who made the Versace show one to remember. Rita Ora rocked up FROW-side sporting one of the label’s new designs, held together only by pieces of Swarovski crystal ropes and silicon glue. We KNOW. The orange cutaway mini dress even revealed her hip tattoo, but Rita sure didn’t feel insecure.

“It makes you feel hot. It makes you feel like exactly what Versace does – sexy,” she said backstage.

Erm, some of your confidence this way, please Rit?

As for the collection itself, billowing dresses racking up to more than £10,000 each strutted down the runway in hues of neon yellow and orange, complete with shoe lace style detail similar to that of Rita’s get-up.

Donatella added: “This collection is one of the most complicated, sophisticated and technically accomplished that we have ever created.”

We know what you’re thinking – it’s hardly even worth a look considering the price. Well, that’s where Gigi & co. come in.

Versace was the brand to launch the supermodels back in the 1990s, and now Donatella has got the likes of Gigi and Rosie to thank for keeping her collections relevant (if somewhat, over budget) to the masses. After all, who doesn’t want a peep at an utterly flawless model clique sauntering down the runway?!

We applaud you, Donatella.

And the rest? We’re chomping at the bit to see what Dior will pull out of the bag with its first collection since Raf Simons’ departure, while we’re itching to find out who Karl Lagerfeld will crown as his Chanel bride. Eek!
