Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has caused widespread concern after taking the decision to make her Instagram account private. The decision appears to have come about as a result of a string of body-shaming comments aimed at the X Factor judge. Most recently the pop singer gave an interview to British InStyle, where she spoke out against skinny-shaming.
It’s no secret that the I Don’t Care singer has been receiving a tirade of comments about her appearance and apparent weight-loss, but she insists that it’s nothing to worry about. She says: ‘It’s crazy double standards. You’d never be allowed to say to somebody, “Oh, you look a bit fat.”‘
Cheryl currently has 1.7million followers, and anyone who lands on her Instagram account will now be met with the message: ‘If you’re a negative person swerve – you have no place on my page.
‘Don’t waste your time. Good vibes only.’
So, what does this new ‘private’ setting actually mean? Well, anybody wishing to look through the star’s candid snaps will have to send a ‘follow’ request in order to gain approval from Cheryl herself first. Unless she’s already approved you as a follower, of course.
Cheryl’s fan base is very important to her, so we have no doubt that she’ll be quick to allow her soldiers access to her snaps.
Taking to the cover for InStyle’s November issue, Cheryl opted for a fresh and minimal beauty look, with her dewy skin glowing from beneath her choppy brunette locks.
The petite star modelled some of Autumn/Winter’s hottest trends, including graphic prints, retro flares and ’60s-inspired blouses.

After switching her high fashion looks for an off-duty dressing gown, Cheryl revealed that one of her biggest pleasures is something we can ALL relate to; taking that bra off at the end of a long day. She told InStyle’s Deputy Editor: ‘I literally just pull it through my sleeves, isn’t it the best?’
We’re right there with you, Chezza.
It’s no secret that Cheryl has been the centre of much speculation regarding her weight-loss, but the X Factor judge wasted no time in setting the record straight during this interview.
She says: ‘Being overweight is unhealthy – it’s actually a bad message to tell someone who is obese that they look “curvy” or “great”. But you know what? After this length of time, there’s nothing I can hear about myself that I haven’t already heard.’
Looks like the feisty Geordie is well and truly back, then.
Cheryl surprised everyone when she revealed that she’d wed her French man by posting a snap of her huge rock to Instagram.
It’s great to see the star so happy, and she let InStyle in to a little secret about what it’s really like to be married to her: ‘I think I’m low maintenance, but maybe I’m deluded.
‘I know my environment isn’t easy – my day gets planned out in advance all the time, so I’m like “Oh, actually change that. We can’t meet tonight.”‘
Cheryl also has some top tips for a happy married life. Despite the fact that she rows with her hubby Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini – just like any other couple – she admits that she’s really not one for getting angry: ‘I’m not a sulker; I’ve learnt how to express my feelings in a calm way, even if I do want to shout.’
But don’t think she’s a soft touch: ‘if I shout? You know it’s bad. But I save it for the big things – I never lose it over the toilet seat being left up.’
