We might know Ed Sheeran as an award winning singing but it appears the 24 year old may also have acting ambitions.
It has been reported that the star has bagged himself a speaking part in the third Bridget Jones film, Bridget Jones’ Baby. Although the Bridget Jones crew have already filmed scenes at Sheeran’s Croke Park concert earlier this year this is the first suggestion that the signer will actually star in the movie.
Sheeran – who yesterday received an honorary doctorate from the University of Suffolk for his contribution to music – has had previous acting experience when he made a cameo appearance in Home and Away. We can’t wait to see what part he plays!
We recieved confirmation earlier this month of the exact date good ol’ Bridge will be back for her 3rd film.
Yep, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Bridget Jones’ Baby will land in cinemas on September 16th 2016. Eek! That’s less than one year, ladies.
Meanwhile, we’ve also got the first snaps of Renée Zellweger on set.
The first promo shot was released by Working Title films on their official Instagram account, showing Bridget clutching an iPad (soo 2015…) in a chunky white cableknit jumper, looking EXACTLY like we remember her.
‘Bridget is back! Renée Zellweger returns as Bridget Jones in BRIDGET JONES’S BABY’, reads the caption. Ahh.
But then, more shots were released of Renee in character doing a cheeky Sainsbury’s shop in London, and brace yourselves – her body looks very different.
Working a striped breton top and a shaggy blue coat with ripped jeans, leather boots and a Mulberry tote, Bridge is also rocking one MASSIVE baby bump. Naw!

It might have been eleven years since the last Bridget Jones movie The Edge Of Reason landed, but at long last, the third film is well and truly underway. And while there has been more than a few changes, there’s one in particular that has got us all worked up: Patrick Dempsey aka Doctor McDreamy has just confirmed his role as the new cast member.
Indeed, the 49-year-old Grey’s Anatomy star took to Instagram yesterday to confirm all rumours with a post of himself on set and the caption: “Nice to be working in England. Renee and Colin are an absolute joy to work with! A good couple of days rehearsing at Pinewood Studios. I really like it here!” Oh, the excitement!
Dempsey will join original cast members Renee and Colin Firth, who will reprise their respective roles as the eponymous Bridget and her long-term love interest Mark Darcy.
As for everyone’s favourite love rat, Daniel Cleaver, Hugh Grant told Free radio in the Midlands: “I decided not to do it. I think they’re going to go ahead and do it without Daniel. The book’s excellent, by the way, but the script is completely different – well, the script as I saw it a few years ago.” We can’t help but hope that Dreamy McDreamerson Dempsey might take the love rat reigns..
Unlike its predecessors, Bridget Jones 3 will not be based on Helen Fielding’s third novel Mad About The Boy, but will be akin to the columns Fielding penned for the Telegraph. The film’s working title, Bridget Jones’ Baby, might just give you a little idea what they’re about..
All things considered, Bridget Jones 3 is shaping up to be a pretty worthy sequel..
