Barbie is all set for Christmas, as the iconic doll is given a makeover from coveted designer Stephen Jones.
A complete contrast to her make-up free moment we saw recently, Stephen Jones, who’s a go-to hat maker for Kate Middleton, has set Barbie up for party season.
And we couldn’t be more jealous.
Creating five couture outfits for the doll, the British milliner has taken inspiration from well-known Christmas images. Which means Santa suits, holly trims and, erm, reindeer antlers.
More enviable, though, are Barbie’s new velvet frocks, floor-length gowns and cocktail dresses. There we were thinking our Barbie phase was over.
‘Barbie is the most fabulous private client,’ said Jones. ‘She came into the salon for her Christmas morning hat and left with five glamorous outfits! Barbie and I have the same design vision; we love tradition, but have an eye for the future.’
That would explain the coat shaped like a Christmas tree, then…
The new festive dolls will each cost £250, launching at Selfridges new London’s Toy Shop on Friday 15 November.
Would you wear Barbie’s Christmas outfits? Y’know, if they were made for actual humans.
