Alicia Vikander scooped the Best Supporting Actress gong at this year’s 2016 Oscars. But forget the award – it was her dress that everyone was talking about…
The 27-year-old A-lister turned up in a custom-made yellow Louis Vuitton gown that featured a puffy balloon hemline and all-over silver embellishment.
Alicia topped off her gown with silver block heels and diamond drop earrings, sweeping her hair back into a simple half updo.
But whilst the Swedish actress looked as stunning as ever (loving that hue against her olive skin!), viewers couldn’t help but notice how similar her frock looked to Cheryl Fernandez-Versini’s recent BRITs look.
Yellow mullet dress? Golden tan? Ariana Grande-esque hair? Tick, tick, tick. The similarities are uncanny – could Vikander be a secret Cheryl fan? (We can dream…)
And that wasn’t the only comparison. Twitter also flew into a frenzy over Alicia’s frock, comparing it to Belle from Beauty And The Beast. So, what did the Danish Girl star think of the Belle memes sweeping social media?
‘That was my thought!’ she laughed when Entertainment Tonight grilled her about it on the Oscars red carpet. ‘That’s so funny! That’s hilarious.’
She continued: ‘I think if you would’ve asked 5-year-old Alicia what her biggest dream was, it was probably to be Belle in Beauty and the Beast.’

Alicia scooped Best Supporting Actress award for her role alongside Eddie Redmayne on the night, and upon the announcement, took the chance to confirm her relationship with handsome Michael Fassbender.
The notoriously camera-shy couple couldn’t contain their excitement over Alicia’s win, with Vikander immediately bending down to give her man a kiss in front of EVERYONE as he beamed delightedly. Naww.
‘I want to say that the honesty and help that I got from the people I got to meet and talk to from the transgender community – and their loved ones and friends – was what made this film so rare and so special,’ she said afterwards.
‘It was their guidance that made me what to give [this story] the authenticity it deserved. This is for you. Thank you.’
Congrats, gorgeous lady.
