The remake of one our favourite ever Disney movies hits cinemas next week, and we couldn’t be more excited! Based on the original Rudyard Kipling story, the new Jungle Book film is a live-action reimagining of the classic 1967 film – and here’s why you need to see it.
1. The A-List Cast
They’ve bagged a stellar line up of Hollywood stars to play the much-loved characters in the film. Bill Murray plays Baloo, Idris Elba took on the role of Shere Kahn, whilst Lupita Nyong’o is Raksha and Scarlett Johansson is Kaa.
2. You’ll Be Able To Sing Along To The Original Songs
John Debney composed the musical score and a number of the songs from the original 1967 film have been incorporated into the soundtrack. You’ll be pleased to hear that the likes of The Bare Necessities and I Wanna Be Like You are both in there.
3. The Animation Is Incredible
Following the success of Maleficent and Cinderella, Disney have once again pulled out all the stops with another live-action remake. The animation is a work of art throughout, and everyone is talking about the crazily lifelike CGI animals – in particular the amazing talking tiger. Top tip from the LOOK team who were lucky enough to see the film this week: make sure you see it in 3D to see it in its full glory.
4. It’s Much Darker Than The Original
This remake isn’t as happy-go-lucky as the original. While the 1967 film you remember from your childhood is an all-singing, all-dancing affair, the new movie is much more of an adventure story.
5. They Searched High And Low For Their Perfect Mowgli
Mowgli is the only character not created using CGI, and naturally they wanted to find the perfect boy for the role. In the end, the part went to Neel Sethi – an unknown actor from New York.
