Style icon Sarah Jessica Parker stepped out in NYC last night for the premiere of new must-see American musical series Smash, which stars Debra Messing, Uma Thurman and Abigail Breslin. With hubby Matthew Broderick in tow, SJP ticked all the right style boxes in an understated sequin frock and a luxurious velvet jacket, which she teamed with a quirky leopard clutch and a Carrie-worthy statement necklace. The star-studded New Year's Eve, from the makers of Valentine's Day, has been tipped to be this year’s big Christmas blockbuster – have you seen the A-list line up?!

The premiere hit New York last night and the lady line-up on the red carpet was quite the fashion fest. Sarah Jessica Parker went for a monochrome printed midi dress with a killer statement necklace and Jessica Biel went for festive sparkle in an embellished taupe maxi dress. The other three female stars, Michelle Pfeiffer (looking seriously hot at 53), Abigail Breslin and Carla Gugino showed us how to rock an LBD no matter what your age.

Michelle Pfeiffer upped the jealousy factor when we found out she shared a passionate snog with our boy crush Zac Efron in the movie. Now that's one hot cougar couple we'd like to see! PS

Working vibrant blue tights with a lust-worthy Valentino dress and amazing Jimmy Choo shoes as she made her way to the Live With Kelly TV show to promote her new film, New Year’s Eve, SJP looked every inch the fashion-forward style icon that we just can't stop loving!

It looks like we weren’t the only ones mesmerised by Louis Vuitton’s magical carousel staged SS12 show back in September '11. Sarah Jessica Parker took to the blue carpet at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball 2011 in New York looking ever so festive in a silk, cut-work and feather trimmed frock from the collection.

It may be a spring/summer '12 creation, but the combo of winter white and Tiffany blue plumes makes it perfect for party season. If, like us, your budget doesn’t stretch to a Vuitton blowout, you’ll be pleased to know Asos, Zara and Lipsy all have some feathered fancies that will nod the catwalk look. However, we suspect only the pairing of SJP’s style and a Louis Vuitton dress can make a pointed white stiletto look chic. GG

When Miranda Kerr, Blake Lively, Olivia Wilde and Emma Stone worked the red carpet at the Museum of Modern Art’s 4th Annual Film benefit, a tribute to cult director Pedro Almodovar, last night, we couldn’t help but notice a couple of trends emerging from their high-fashion looks. Miranda Kerr and Blake Lively were pioneering the ever-flattering peplum, Miranda in a futuristic zip-front Peter Pilotto dress and Nicholas Kirkwood heels, and Blake in a clashing textured number from her go-to label, Chanel. We’re huge fans of the peplum too – if you’re feeling bloated, it hides the bulge, but if you need help creating curves, you’ll have them in a flash. They’re sticking around for SS12 too, with Celine, Thakoon and Jason Wu all loving the design detail.

Monochrome prints were another major style player last night thanks to Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde. Emma went for a smudgy Chanel Couture print dress that was all about the details, with a leg split, amped up corsage and ruched waist, while Olivia looked demure in her midi dress, satin pumps and dainty beaded clutch. Blake Lively and Sarah Jessica Parker have both stepped out in these lion paw Louboutin’s, which quite frankly have us all torn here in the LOOK offices. Some of us love them, while the other camp are slightly freaked out by the hairy toe claws on the front of the shoe! It’s a definite step further than animal print, but if Blake and SJP can both rock animal claw feet then it’s a trend that’s worth considering – watch this space! RS
