Burberry Scores One Cool Crowd At London Fashion Week AW11
Bagging a front row seat at Burberry is like finding the Stella McCartney sling-backs you’ve been lusting over all season in the sale, with only one pair left and they’re in your size. In other words, incredibly rare and oh-so fabulous. So it goes without saying that the crème de la crème of the fashion crop descended upon Kensington Gardens yesterday to attend the Burberry autumn/winter 2011 catwalk show. We’ve got to admit we were just as excited about what the A-list were going to wear catwalk-side than the actual collection and Lily Donaldson, Rachel Bilson, Kate Bosworth and Daisy Lowe didn’t disappoint, kitted out in signature Burberry trenches and those studded biker jackets. But probably most exciting of all was the appearance of Anna Wintour sans sunnies and with a definite smile on her face. Looks like Christopher Bailey scores again! It’s An A-List Masquerade!
If there’s one party everyone was waiting for at Paris Fashion Week, it was Carine Roitfeld’s masquerade ball in celebration of French Vogue’s 90th anniversary. The glitterati piled into the Hotel Pozzo di Borgo sporting an array of masks, ranging from the subtle to the spectacularly OTT. And the fashion didn’t disappoint, either. French Vogue editor Carine dared to bare in a sheer dress with strategically placed leopard-print patches, while Lara Stone shimmered in sequinned Calvin Klein Collection. And it seems Ms Roitfeld had a few competitors for her risqué crown, as Dita Von Teese attended in little more than a coat and stockings, Lily Donaldson went for bra-flashing red Dior and Natalia Vodianova’s modesty was saved only by a little bit of lace. Alexa Chung, Mary-Kate Olsen and Lily Donaldson have gone wild for the hottest coats of the season
This week the A-list have gone wild for leopard prints coats with everyone from Alexa Chung to Mary-Kate Olsen rocking the look and providing a masterclass in how to wear it.
We spotted Alexa Chung in a lust-worthy Topshop coat at a fashion awards ceremony this week and teamed her high street buy with a stunning red frock and flat black pumps. Also at the same event was supermodel, Lily Donaldson who also chose a leopard print coat for the occasion. The striking model teamed her figure-hugging LBD with black platforms and black tights.
On the other side of town, our favourite celebrity trendsetter, Mary-Kate Olsen pushed the fashion boundaries by teaming her statement coat with a floor-skimming black gown, red skyscraper heels and a vintage navy bag.
