Fashion Round Up: A-List Glamour At The White House Dinner
When an invite to dinner at The White House with the Obama’s lands on your doormat, you know your failsafe LBD isn’t going to cut it in the fashion stakes. Oscar-worthy red carpet glamour was the order of the day at The White House Correspondents Association dinner this weekend, with A-list guests including Kate Hudson, Kim Kardashian, Dakota Fanning and Zooey Deschanel pulling out all the stops.
Kate and Kim went for jewel toned showstopping gowns, Kate sparking in midnight blue Jenny Packham (we wonder if she’s been looking to a certain British Kate for style inspiration - Jenny is one of her go-to designers after all) and gave us major bun envy with her golden locks piled on her head in a whopping top knot. Kim, who attended the soiree with her mum Kris Jenner instead of rumoured beau Kanye West, went down the Grecian goddess route in an embellished green velvet gown. Dakota Fanning and Zooey Deschanel glistened on the red carpet in ornate metallic dresses, Dakota in vintage-esque Prada, which she let do the talking with a make-up free face and loose, simple tresses, and Zooey in petal embellished Oscar De La Renta. With the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Charlize Theron and Claire Danes also on the guestlist, the Obama’s bash was like the dinner party of dreams! Oh what we wouldn’t give to have been a fly on the wall in that ballroom…GG

Claire Danes & Chloë Sevigny Step Out In Style
Claire Danes and Chloë Sevigny rocked the red capet last night to celebrate the launch of HBO's ‘new’ Sex and the City – a comedy called Girls.
Claire Danes (we are loving her in Homelands) went for a hot geometric print midi dress splash of green neon whilst kooky chick Chloë Sevigny worked her new cropped hairstyle (we’re undecided) in a paisley print mini paired with black biker boots.
Both gals looked excited to see the new TV comedy from Judd Apatow (the producer of hit film Bridesmaids)… it’s based on a group of girls in their twenties trying to make it in New York. Think a sexier, dirtier and funnier version of Sex and The City. One to watch out for, ladies. PS

The Olsens Make It A Very Fashionable Night At The Opera
You don’t get more glam than YSL, the opera and a slew of A-list beauties, so you can imagine our excitement when we clocked these delightful red-carpet pics today. Hollywood royalty donned their finest for last night’s hot soiree, the YSL-sponsored premiere of Le Comte Ory opera in New York. The attendees fell into two fashion camps, black and block colour, with Claire Danes, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen and Claudia Schiffer going for dramatic glamour. Claire Danes sparkled in an embellished floor-sweeper and Ashley Olsen just pipped her sister to the post in the wardrobe stakes with a chic midi dress and emerald stole. Although they both score major points for that to-die-for YSL postcard clutch. In the colour corner, Emmy Rossum and newcomer Rebecca Hall provided the spring brights, with jewelled belted gowns in jade and scarlet. It’s a wonder the audience could concentrate – we’d be on permanent celeb watch with this lot around. Natalie Portman Storms The Screen Actors Guild Awards
Natalie Portman is on a roll, scoring a double whammy by picking up her second award for Best Actress at the Screen Actors Guild Award 2011 in LA last night. We’re pleased to see she’s not letting her blooming bump get in the way of her red carpet wardrobe either, oozing Hollywood glamour in a white Azzaro column gown and a classic Roger Vivier clutch. Looks like that Best Actress Oscar is in the bag – and we just can't wait to see her next knockout look. Zac Posen Launches His Target Line
Fashion’s finest were out in force last night for the launch of Zac Posen’s eagerly anticipated collection for Target. The store, a sort of US Matalan, is not new to designer collaborations, having had Sarah Jessica Parker, Anna Sui and Proenza Schouler all design sell-out lines.
Posen fans working the red carpet included Selma Blair, Claire Danes, Maggie Gyllenhal, Olivia Palermo, and of course Coco Rocha. Well, the designer is currently working on her wedding dress. If Zac’s catwalk creations are anything to go by, this is set to be the store’s hottest hook-up yet. Just one question Target, when are you opening across the pond?! - GG
