Oscars 2011: The Best Dressed

Natalie Portman and Hailee Steinfield on the red carpet at the 2011 Oscars

Last night in LA, the awards ceremony we’ve all been waiting for took place, and the red carpet was awash with Hollywood’s finest wearing amazing gowns at the Oscars 2011. Natalie Portman went straight to her favourite label – and creators of the Black Swan’s costumes – Rodarte, for the divine purple dress she wore to pick up the Best Actress gong. Host Anne Hathaway started the night in a scarlet, bustle-back Valentino dress before a whopping seven costume changes throughout the event, including a fringed Oscar de la Renta frock and a Lanvin tux. The lucky lady even had Valentino himself on hand during her red-carpet walk, perhaps to prevent any possible wardrobe malfunctions!  Teen style sensation Hailee Steinfeld looked like a princess in a tulle ballgown she co-designed with Marchesa for the occasion, and worked the red carpet like a pro – you’d never know it was her first Oscar appearance. Last but not least, queen of red-carpet high fashion Cate Blanchett combined elegance and edge with a lilac embellished Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci creation. Mila Kunis and Scarlett Johansson continued the purple trend, Scarlett in lace Dolce & Gabbana and Mila in plunging Elie Saab Couture. Our other favourites? Sandra Bullock in red Vera Wang and Michelle Williams in shimmering Chanel. Of course, there’s about a million more dresses to drool over – and that’s not including the after-parties – so check out our Oscar gallery. Picking your favourite is not going to be easy! Cate Blanchett Gets A Hot New Pixie Crop Hairstyle

Cate Blanchett and her new pixie cropped hairstyle at the Tony Awards

It’s been a while since a serious A-lister went for a major hairstyle makeover, so you can imagine our excitement seeing Cate Blanchett sporting a Mia Farrow-style crop!   Fresh and clean, Cate’s hairstyle was a real stand-out ‘do in a sea of extensions at the Tony Awards 2010 in New York this week. Also, can we just mention how much we loved her killer Armani Privé spacey suit as well- top marks Mrs Blanchett! PS

Maid Marion Gets Glam In Roger Vivier Riding Boots

A sketch of Cate Blanchett as Maid Marion, with boots designed by Roger Vivier

We’ve been hotly anticipating Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood remake for a while now, so this news got us more than a little excited. Bruno Frisoni, Creative Director at Roger Vivier, has created a pair of to-die-for buckled boots to be worn by Cate Blanchett’s Maid Marion in the film. Putting a modern spin on Marion’s signature look, we’d happily have the whipstiched, turned-down-knee numbers on our autumn/winter 2010 wishlist. Frisoni said, ‘I wanted to create some boots that were both feminine and masculine. Sexy: seduction on a horse!”. We’re guessing Cate didn’t leave these babies on set. GG

Cate Blanchett: Catwalk to Celebrity

Catwalk to Celebrity 04 December 2009

Written By: Kat Webster

Cate Blanchett steps out in this season's must have camel coat.

Cate Blanchette's on and off duty style is forever elegant. If Cates not gracing the red carpet in an array of couture gowns then she can be seen enjoying a spot of downtime wearing key seasonal pieces. And this week was no exception as Cate stepped out in New York wrapped up in a statement camel coat. Camel outerwear was seen all over the A/W 09 catwalks from Chloes blanket coats (pictured) to Louis Vuitton's over-sized shoulder numbers and Jill Sanders minimalist tailoring. Bag your camel coat now and add a traditional finish to your winter wardrobe. High street stores such as Wallis, Topshop, Jaeger and Hobbs have some great offerings.
